It's been great to see so many people this week and the excitement about playing again was very clear to see.

I'm sure you will agree that the cold and frosty conditions have been a welcome change from the wet!!

Mike and his team have been taking advantage of an empty golf course since Christmas and have been very busy continuing the work on paths and clearing out lots of undergrowth. There has been plenty of positive comments about the work being undertaken although I'm hoping it won't impact on ball sales!!

It's hard to believe it's nearly February, and before you know it those white tees will be out, the fairways much further away, new bunkers to play out of, faster greens to put on and basically the question will be asked - are you ready?

Another way of helping achieve your goal of having your best year ever is to make sure your equipment is helping you as much as possible. There are many aspects to this:

• Condition of clubs/grips - Whenever I see badly worn grips I always hope their car tyres are not in the same state!! 
• Custom fit - Are your clubs custom fitted to you? 
• Correct choice of clubs - Have you had a gapping session to know how far all your clubs go?
  TJ and I often find clubs that perform too similar in a set, typically hybrids and fairway woods. We also find too big a gap between shorter clubs. Having the best lofts in your wedges to suit you can help enormously as well as having the correct type of wedges to suit you. Are you a "sweeper" or a "digger"? Does the bounce on your wedges suit your profile? 
• Are there clubs that perform better than yours?
  Well technology does not move backwards, and if you're using clubs that are a few models old how much are you missing out on? During a fitting using our industry leading GC2 launch monitor you will clearly see how yours and other clubs perform.
