I hardly dare say it but there has been some glorious weather this week!
Let's hope it continues for the weekend as last Saturday was to say the least, blooming awful!!
Despite very heavy rainfall the competition managed to be completed, although quite a few understandably withdrew (we have some amazing offers on waterproofs at the moment...).
Nearly 70 members did brave the elements and after scoring a super 41 points Nigel Kirby won the event by 2 points with Alistair Johnstone finishing runner-up. It certainly looks like Nigel has enjoyed his new custom fitted TaylorMade M1 Driver and here is the message Nigel kindly sent afterwards:
"Everything clicked into place on Saturday despite the rain. Thanks again Mark for the lessons and also the fantastic M1".
Well done Nigel!
It was also super to see one of our new members, John Enos, finish 4th with his great score of 38 points. Looks like you're enjoying the course already John!?
Seeing the sun back out this week has certainly been nice to see along with the noticeably increasing daylight hours. Everyone is certainly getting keener and the range and course has had plenty of activity.
This week has seen the very eagerly awaited product launches from both TaylorMade and PING and given that these companies dominate the hardware market, you will be glad to know we have their full ranges in stock.
PING's new G range and TaylorMade's M range are simply fantastic. I totally appreciate every new product is "the best ever" whether it's golf clubs, washing machines, mobiles, cars and so on.
Yes we can also tell you all about the technology but at the end of the day "the proof is in the pudding" and that is why we are keen to show just how good they are by holding a couple of 10 yard challenge events.
Whether it's your 7 iron or driver, both TJ and I are very confident that we can find you another 10 yards on either (or both). Why not take the challenge and put these new products to the test?
The 3 choices of dates are:
Saturady, 13 February - 11am - 2pm
Sunday, 14 February - 12.30pm to 2.45pm
Tuesday, 16 February - 10pm - 1pm

How would you like a FREE grip?
Yes that's correct! We will fit a brand new grip FREE of charge on your 7 iron to help you appreciate the benefits of a brand new grip.
We only have a limited number of these FREE grips to give away, so please call in the shop (quickly) to select your grip, get measured and have it put on while you wait.
There was a good turnout for the Ladies event on Tuesday this week. Playing in teams of 3 or 4 with the best 2 scores to count over the 15 holes, the winners were Sarah Anderson, Linda Easton and Sue Brooks. Well done Ladies!!

Another busy week for our Greenstaff has involved continuing with the tree management programme which many members saw for their first time last weekend and were very complimentary about the work. More of the "new" bunkers have had sand put in, but as mentioned in last week's newsletter, they are still GUR - I cannot believe how keen some are to play bunker shots!
The 3rd Medal tee has also been prepared ready for the new turf. There is no truth in the rumour that the water in front of the 3rd tee is going to be made a permanent feature by creating a large pond, although....
Ralph and I played our latest match on Wednesday against
Mike Wells and
Steve Atkinson on what was definitely the nicest day of the year so far. After a close start with the game level after 6 holes, a nice 2 nett 1 on the 7th by Steve started a 3 hole run from which Ralph and I could not come back from, before shaking hands on the 15th.
Many thanks for a great game gents (it was lovely to see how well your new putter and hybrid performed Steve although a little too well!!!)
