What a very busy Bank Holiday Weekend! First mention this week must go to Mike and his team as the course was absolutely superb. As you will all appreciate it was Mikes first "major" event as Head Green keeper on Sunday when we staged the Rose Bowl and with his team they presented the course in superb condition. Very well done guys!!
There was non-stop praise for our course from competitors all day with the common quote being "best greens played on by far this year."
In addition to Mike and his team the event also had an amazing amount of work from Steve and his team of helpers. There were so many "finishing " touches with tee signage , player badges, markers etc I doubt the competitors will play in another event as well staged during the rest if the season ! Very well done to everyone involved.
As for the event itself, the quality of the golf matched matched the quality of the event. After 10 sub 70 rounds in the morning an exciting afternoon beckoned and it was certainly delivered. A new course record was set from George Forder (Fulford) with his superb 64 giving a 134 total. This total was matched by Jamie Harrison (Rotherham) after his 65 followed his 69 in the morning. The 134 was also a new record for the Rose Bowl!
After both parring the first Jamie won on the 2nd extra hole after George's par put "lipped" out.
The Wardrop Cup
The Wardrop Cup on Monday gave everyone the chance to experience the "Rose Bowl "course and it looked like plenty of you enjoyed it. Both Richard Briggs and Mike Robinson shot fantastic net 63's which means a playoff will be required. There were plenty of great scores also including Dave Holder winning the Gross prize with 71 (will we see you in next years Rose Bowl Dave???? - especially as that was the first game with your new Motocaddy M1 lite trolley!!)
Final mention regarding the Rose Bowl is to congratulate
Richard Masefield achieving a hole in one on the 7th. Well done!!
Ladies competitions are flowing thick and fast at the moment. Very well done to the latest Swan Qualifiers Bridget Moss, Anette Enzor, Vanessa Hart, Sue Beard, Gillian Dixon, Judy Frame, Sandra Robertson & Pat Fletcher.
Not only were the competitors very complementary about our course on Sunday there were also full of praise about our Pro Shop!!
