What A Whirlwind Of A Week! 

Last Thursday we held one of the "Majors" in our calendar year - The York Against Cancer day. 27 teams of 4 played in the shotgun start event. As usual TJ and I were on the 7th tee for the "Beat the Pro" challenge where challengers win a dozen balls if they hit it closer than us. 

This is always great fun and the banter on the tee is always amusing! To add to the pressure TJ and I have always played for bragging rights as to who gave the least balls away!! Having 27 teams meant we spun a coin for who had 14 teams and who had 13 and I assure you I didn't have a double headed coin to help win the toss!! Suffice to say poor TJ has another 12 months to wait for his re match!?? 

The day was an enormous success with everyone praising their whole experience of the day, superb condition of course, great staff, lovely meal and so on. The kind donation from TaylorMade for a game at the Gleneagles Ryder Cup course secured £1300 at the evening auction and so far the day itself has raised over £12000. Very well done everyone. 

Royal Signals

The Royal Signals competition on Saturday had a great entry and as a result £400 has been donated to Help for Heroes. Many congratulation to Ryan Duiga on winning the event with his great score of 41 points. Ryan has been working hard on his game with me over the past few months and has achieved his goal of reaching "scratch" handicap. Very well done Ryan! 

Yorkshire Ladies Challenge Bowl 

This week we have hosted the prestigious Yorkshire a Ladies Challenge Bowl. 

On Tuesday the top 16 qualified for the knockout stage from over 100 playing. 

Our very own young superstar Saffron Thompson stole the show on the day as leading qualifier with her fantastic score of net 66. 

Hope her mum and dad have plenty of silver polish ready for the years ahead !! 

Saffron battled hard in the first round and succumbed in the end but what a great week she has had. Well done Saffron.
