After a few good mild days let's hope Storm Doris gives us a wide berth here at Strensall!
The course has really dried out these past few days and with the temperature gently rising we will start seeing some growth soon.
A combination of good weather and more daylight has ensured that the course and range have been busy.
The Greenstaff have been busy again this week with more preparations for the season ahead. Tees have been aerated and sand has been put in the 'new' bunkers which look superb.
On Saturday nearly 150 men played in the Winter 4 Ball. There were some fantastic scoring with a 4 way tie for the lead with 47 points resulting in Tom Brown and Chris Little claiming 1st place with a back 6 decision. Well done guys!

On Wednesday, we hosted the East Riding Alliance in superb conditions. There were 156 playing with many returning to play our course and quite a few playing for the first time.
It was great talking to competitors before and after their game, especially afterwards as there were so many very positive comments about our course.
"The work that has been done is fantastic with the bunkers"
"The winter tees are really good"
"I cannot get over how good your greens are"
"The changes and maintenance work is amazing to see"
"I love your course, I wish I lived in York and I would be a member"
These are just a few comments made but then again you all know how good it is here as you're all members!!
There were some incredible scores on the day with the top 3 scores being 58, 59 & 60. Well done to our teams too:
- Dave Varley & Chris Magee - net 64
- TJ & Tom George JNR - net 65
- Neil Crapper & Dave Spofforth - net 65

On Tuesday this week TJ ran an all day Junior Session, which had a great turnout.
With a number of aspects to the day, including on course tuition, our junior golfers seemed to have a great time.
Look out for our future stars.
It's not just on the course where the excitement is building.
More deliveries have been arriving this week. In addition to the new FootJoy range of clothing (nicely modelled by Dave!), we have also received the new Under Armour, Galvin Green and adidas ranges too.
