Next Friday is our Professionals Day event here at York GC and the excitement is building! 

We have over £2500 worth of prizes and there is also a Mazda MX5 up for grabs for the first Hole-in-One on the 17th courtesy of Turnbulls Mazda. 

The format is an AmAm and teams can be mixed or all male or ladies. Every competitor will receive 3 balls each along with a meal before or after your game (lasagne or stroganoff including vegetarian options) . All this for only £25 per person.

A Busy Bank Holiday

The Bank Holiday helped ensure a very busy few days at the club both on the course and the range. 

It has been great hearing how everyone is so excited about their golf and this is due to many reasons including having had lessons or using new custom fitted clubs.

Now is a great time to check your shoes to see if they are are suitable for the weeks ahead. I say that for two reasons. 

1 - The importance of the condition of your shoes is often neglected. How is the grip from the soles? Do they provide enough stability as well as comfort. 

2 - I have both an amazing selection of Mens and Ladies shoes with some amazing offers too!

This year's junior programme is well under way this year and TJ will be kindly assisted by Colin Riddell with regards to the Junior Development. 

   

Girls Golf Rocks

We are always keen to attract more youngsters here and one of the initiatives we are taking part in is the 'Girls Rocks' scheme in conjunction with England Golf. 

On Sunday 30th April 1-3pm we are hosting a taster day for girls to come and have a go. 

This is open to all girls from age 6 and all equipment is provided.

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of joining the Captain, Peter Bullivant and Trevor Bailey to play at Otley Golf Club. 

The event was the Gilchrist Trophy which has been played by 14 local clubs for over 30 years. 

We had a thoroughly enjoyable game, finishing mid table.
