What a fantastic few days it has been here at York GC.
One of the highlights of the season is the week with our Captain's Days and all events planned were a great success.
Starting on Saturday we had 188 players for the Men's Stableford. With some 'testing' flag positions and blustery conditions it proved to be quite tricky scoring.
In addition to all the great prizes on offer we also ran our prize of 3 golf balls for making a 3 or better at the 7th. Despite the wind and carefully selected flag position over 30% of the field managed to win 3 balls. It appears fittings and lessons are paying off!!
Many congratulations to Chris Lone
on winning with his score of 37 points. Well done too on making it back for the presentation after 2 rounds playing a York Union match!
Sundays Mixed event was as popular as ever too with the putting competition proving a popular warm up.
The prize available was 3 balls for any competitor who holed a put in their attempts. Well done to Barry Kent who was the only person to hole a putt all day.
I think Barry is enjoying his recently fitted new putter grip by PING! These grips are a great shape and feel - call in to see just how nice they are.
Many congratulations to Tom
and June George
for winning the event.
Despite the weather spoiling itself on Tuesday Val
laid on a super Lady Captain's Day to brighten everyone's sprits with the day having a 'tropical' theme. It was quite clear how much effort had gone into the day and it was great to see how much everyone enjoyed themselves.
Fortunately the crocodiles in the 7th were tame ones!
Many congratulations to Gay Enos
on winning the Ladies event with her great score of 38 points.
It's typical that as soon as we start our Shirt Amnesty the weather turns horrible! I'm sure it's only temporary and I'm sure we will have a shirt or two that will tempt you to freshen up your wardrobe.

Our trolley store has been having a make over recently.Martin Ashley
