Life begins at 50

If you ever needed hope that life keeps on getting better then look no further than Bernhard Langer. During his ‘youthful years’ the magnificent German played on 10 Ryder Cup teams and won a mind-boggling 42 times on the European Tour, the second most of all-time, but it’s what he’s done since turning 50 that impresses us the most.

Courtesy of his three-shot victory at the weekend’s Senior Open Championship, the 59-year-old has now won a record 10 senior majors, one more than fellow Hall-of-Famer Gary Player. It's been one remarkable season for Langer too, having claimed three of these majors in 2017 alone!

So if that doesn’t get you excited for what’s to come then nothing will. We can’t promise that we’ll turn you into a superstar overnight but come and talk to the team if you’re interested in getting better…It's never too late.

You can tell it’s the school summer holidays as the weather has taken a turn for the worse!

Thankfully it has not put a dampener on everyone’s enthusiasm as it's been another busy few days here at York GC.

There was a tremendous entry for the Annual Handicap Strokeplay last weekend. In a very close affair it was Jamie Varley who managed to claim the trophy with his very solid score of 138 which was 1 shot clear of James Watson and Sam Metcalfe. Very well done Jamie.

There was great news for the ladies this week as the scratch team have made it through to the County finals on 6th September. Very well done ladies!

Hole-in-One

Many congratulations to Richard Masefield who had a hole-in-one on Wednesday on the 7th hole. This was actually Richard's 4th hole in one at York. Wow! Very well done Richard.
