The moment TJ and Wilks have been waiting for ..........one of my lost balls has been kindly returned by Andy Baldwin. After striking a tree in the middle of the 6th fairway it took a deflection right!! Thank you Andy!

It has been nice to have Steve back this week after his break. Steve would like me to thank everyone for their kindness and support over the sad loss of his father.

York Against Cancer Day

The Annual York Against Cancer day golf day was held last Thursday with this year having another great entry of teams. With lots of prizes on offer, fantastic organisation, and a superb course ready, we thankfully had great weather to contribute to what turned out to be the best year ever for the event.

Popular as ever was the "Beat the Pro" on the 7th hole where TJ and I challenge every golfer to hit it closer than our tee shot. Those that do win a dozen balls and those who hit the green outside our shots win 3 balls. No pressure!

As always it was great fun with the banter on the tee, and whilst TJ thrives on it, I have to admit my grip was a little tight and the heartbeat was a bit quicker - especially as the whole afternoon was filmed and played back in the clubhouse during the evening!!

There were lots of good shots from the competitors this year and it was quite disheartening for TJ and I hitting some shots to 10' and giving away dozens of balls!! In the end at we conceded 21 dozen balls to the 120+ competitors so we will be eager to improve next year.

All in all it was a fantastic day. John and his team provided a superb meal for everyone in the evening and has already got off to a great start with his catering services with lots of positive comments in his first few days. Scott Anscomb did a fantastic job with the auction with the top prize of a Fourball at Wentworth going for £1250.

In total over £10000 was raised on the day, and Ralph Magee has asked me to express his thanks to everyone involved on a great "team effort".

July Medal

It's hard to believe it was the July Medal on Saturday when nearly 170 competitors enjoyed perfect conditions. Another great results list for new techniques and new equipment once again!!

Many congratulations to Simon Evans winning the overall medal after a countback with Rich Briggs. Superb scores of nett 64 guys well done! Thankfully Simon is continuing his lessons and not resting on his laurels after victory!!

Fulford Match

The return fixture of the Fulford match was played on Sunday with TJ partnering Mike in the lead match. What a game they all had. In total 18 birdies between all four of them. Unfortunately it was ever so slightly biased in Fulfords favour with them claiming victory on the 17th. Some very good scoring in other matches also took place and again the momentum was slightly favoured in Fulfords direction with them just winning the match. What was wonderful to hear was the numerous compliments about how fantastic our course was, with one of their members saying ours were the best greens he had played on all year.

Lady Captain's Charity Competition

A great score of 41 points secured victory on Tuesday for Sue Beard in the Lady Captain's Charity Competition. Well done also to Annette Enzor finishing runner up with 37 points.
