Has it really been a week since writing last week's newsletter?!
Time flies when you're having fun (and working at York GC where so much is going on!) The English Golf Union Northern Seniors Championship was a great success through weds-fri last week. It was great hearing so many commenting they have never seen our course as good, and also many playing it for their first time saying what a wonderful course we had.
Well done to our Captain who had a top 10 finish which included winning best gross on the Friday.
The weather spoilt itself yet again for a monthly medal on Saturday. In testing conditions, only 10 players out of 150+ returned a score better than par. Keeping the good form continuing from the day before, Mike produced a super 72 gross which meant his nett 66 narrowly edged out Paul Newell on a back nine count back. Well done both of you.
Long Handicap knockout
Congratulations to Simon Evans winning the Long handicap final against Roger Holmes . Both of you should also get a prize for being the first to complete a knockout this year and it's September!
Congratulations also to Andy Brown for shooting a great score of 43 points to win the Midweek medal on Wednesday which was enjoyed by all competitors on a glorious day.
Congratulations to Alan Walmsley who is has just got his handicap down to 3 for the first time after his great score of 39 points (71 gross) in the midweek stable ford on weds
Our Ladies scratch team have had a fantastic season and qualified for the Final against Garforth at Saltburn on Wednesday. With fellow Lady Members also going to support they all had a great day and enjoyed the experience and gave some great performances and finished as runners up. Very very well done Ladies!
There was also some super scoring on Tuesday from Gillian Dixon and Elizabeth Rankin both returning nett 68's in the Ladies Medal. With a rather hot back nine of 31, Elizabeth claimed the winner's prize. Well done Ladies
In amongst all the events happening on the course the Summer Sale has kept Steve and I busy whilst TJ is enjoying his well-earned break in the Menorcan sunshine.
In addition to the Summer SALE we have had some new arrivals in preparation for the coming months. Causing quite a stir is the fantastic new adidas waterproof range. Not only do they look great and are great to perform in, they have a lifetime warranty for being waterproof.
Annual Equipment Survey
Many thanks to those of you who have already completed our customer survey. Your results will really help us plan for the next year when we attend the Golf Show at Harrogate next month. There is still time to give us your feedback by clicking here.
All fellow Professionals with the Foremost group have asked their members and customers to participate also, and Foremost will be drawing a lucky winner to enjoy a 3 day golf break in association with Golf breaks. Whilst you could get lucky and win this prize, you could also win either a MacGregor bag or a dozen Srixon Z Star balls which we are supplying, so please make sure you have a go.
Wow you are all keen to take us on! Nearly all the dates posted last week have already gone and Mike and I will be posting dates for December onwards soon (Mike well done getting your handicap down with the win on Saturday, but just remember we have a lot of matches !!!!!)
Whilst our practice facilities at the range are constantly improving, it has been decided to open up part of the practice green to be used for "low impact " shots only. The area to use is determined by the white hoops as shown in the pic. I'm sure this will prove popular and in the meantime work will continue on the green by the range in order to achieve as good a "green surface" as possible.
