There was yet another great entry for last Saturday's competition - the Rundle Cup. Some super scoring took place with a 3-way tie on nett 64 which meant a play-off was required. Very well done to Richard Flanagan, Richard Masefield & Sam Metcalfe for their great scores. Also well done to Dave Holder winning the gross with his 70. There were many other great results on the results list and well done to all who featured.

On Sunday we played our penultimate club match at home against Pannal. Mike was keen to get back to winning ways after the team drew at Harrogate GC a fortnight ago, but when their Captain made a simple 4 nett 3 off a 19 handicap at the first to go 1 up there were signs it was going to be tough day ahead! We had a great and eventful game, going 3 up after 5, all square after 9, 2 up with 2 to play and going to the last putt on the last to claim victory!
There was also a good team performance with the overall result being 5-1 to YGC. Well done team!
With news of Sundays junior match, Peter Kay, Team manager.
"Another great result from the Junior team (Emma Audsley, James Kay & Nick Audsley) beating Easingwold 2/1 to gain 4 more points in the final leg of the York Union Junior League title.
It was a very competitive match with a lot of pressure on the York team chasing a clean sweep. However it was played with great spirit and both teams enjoyed the course at its best. All the visitors were full of admiration for the course and especially the greens. The catering was very much appreciated too!
YGC final league position is 3rd with 29 points, 1 behind Fulford and Pike Hills the joint league winners. (Unless they play off).
I am very proud of all who played for the team who performed extremely well throughout the season and showed huge promise for the future. They all played their matches in a spirit and manner that YGC should be very proud of."
Recently we have brought you news of hole-in-ones and Steve's Albatross, but what was missed from the "news desk" was a slightly different hole in one. Geoff Salter was playing the 7th and hit his tee shot into the pond. Playing another ball from the tee he duly knocked it straight into the hole!!
However a "normal" hole in one was achieved by Mark Newton on the 2nd using a 9 iron. Well done Mark!
Congratulations to Andy Brown achieving a "single figure "handicap with his great score in the midweek stableford of 43 points. This milestone is a dream for many golfers and it was wonderful to see Andy achieve this (it does not mean you stop taking lessons though Andy!!!)
His 2 sons Johnny and Tom will be looking over their shoulders now but I would love to see them looking forwards when Andy starts clipping his drives past them!
During the competition on Saturday we had Barry from Club Clean on site to clean clubs and grips. There were many positive comments about his work and we will keep you posted when Barry will be coming again.
This week ahead sees the start of the Course development plan with the initial work being carried out on the 7th, 9th and 17th holes. Very exciting times ahead!
