Pro's Day

The USPGA is underway but we had one of York GC’s Majors on Sunday with our Professionals Day.

Thankfully the weather was great after the much needed heavy rain 24 hours before!

We had a great day with 49 teams of four playing with a great mix of Men and Ladies playing with member teams, members/guests and visitors too.

It was so good seeing and hearing how much everyone enjoyed the day. We had prizes on every par 3 kindly supplied by www.raychapmanmotors.co.uk along with a fantastic prize table worth over £3000.

During the day we also had our TrackMan set up on the range for everyone hit shots and experience this amazing technology used by the worlds best players and coaches.

Not surprisingly everyone that tried it enjoyed it!

Tri-Golf festival

We had over 100 children from local primary schools here on Thursday when we hosted the regional Tri-Golf festival . It was fantastic seeing how much fun they all had and many congratulations to Robert Wilkinson’s team on winning the event.

Compiments on the course!

The weather has certainly helped ensure it has been a busy few days.

On Thursday we had our Gents Open and there were many compliments made about our course. What was very clear during conversations was just how much many clubs have struggled with fairways and greens this year.

On Thursday I was by the 18th green when one of the competitors pulled his second shot and the ball looked like it was going to roll through the gate by the first tee and go out of bounds but the ball finished just in bounds...

First things first, the easiest way to achieve the holy grail of long, straight drives is to find the middle of the clubface every time, which is easier said than done for most of us. Following that, it’s all about launching your drives high with a good spin rate.
