Luke passes his PGA year two training!

This week Luke received the news that he has successfully passed all his PGA training year 2 exams which is fantastic news for for him and all of us here at York Golf Club.

The 3 year degree to earn qualification as a PGA member covers many areas in addition to coaching and club fitting.

Luke’s progress in his training has shown how keen he is and how well he is doing which is great for both the service levels we offer here within the Proshop team, and for himself.

Collectively we are all here to help you with your game and we offer a wealth of experience.

TJ has been qualified over 8 years now and between us we offer all the services for fitting and coaching to ensure that you play your best golf and continue to enjoy the game.

We also use the best technology on the market that is used by the worlds best players and coaches with our Trackman.

Studio news

Back to the studio!

There has been great progress with the studio over the last few days and work is now underway fitting the display units and technology.

More information will follow over the coming weeks about this amazing and exciting facility which will give all members the opportunity to enjoy and work on their golf over the coming winter months.

An ideal time and way to work on your game.

Guess who’s back?

Rewind to May 2018 when Francesco Molinari had just lifted the BMW PGA Championship; he was only two months away from his first Major victory (The Open, of course) and without doubt the golden boy of European golf.

At that very same time, Englishman Danny Willett was going through a dramatic loss of form that saw his World Ranking drop from ninth following his Green Jacket in 2016 to 462nd just after Molinari was finishing up his champagne on Wentworth’s eighteenth.

After going through a raft of changes to find a way back to golf's elite, two huge wins have followed in the last eleven months with the second of those on Sunday at the BMW PGA Championship. A final-round 67 enabled Willett to pull away from Jon Rahm (who he shared the overnight lead with) by closing out with birdie-birdie to win by three and make it seven Tour titles in the 31-year-old’s career.

Winter is coming

Have you ever noticed how much harder you need to hit your putts in the winter compared to summer? As surfaces begin to slow due to longer grass and wetter greens, the need for a little extra effort on your putting stroke becomes clear.

Should you change your putter?

As putts need to be hit harder to get the ball going the same distance as they do in the summer months, using a heavier putter certainly won’t do you any harm.

The thought here is that a heavier putter will do more of the work for you, allowing for a smooth and more controlled putting stroke.

Whilst still being relatively lightweight compared to some putters, Scotty Cameron's Phantom X 12 putter is certainly an option we'd recommend you trying thanks to its optimised weight distribution.
