Golfers often wish they could have the course to themselves, and last Friday we certainly did for our latest Captain/Pro match as there was no one else daft enough to go out!!!!
Having arrived at work at 8am to a monsoon and seeing the putting green start to flood, I opted for a lovely coffee out of our new machine rather than going to the range as I didn't think the game was going to happen! Mike soon arrived and we were chatting away when our opponents Stevie Hood and Rob Taylor arrived fully kitted out and ready for action!!!! Despite a conversation gently suggesting another date, we ended up playing and despite it being atrocious conditions it was still a fun game (honestly!).
A big reason for that "enjoyment" was having the correct equipment to play in. Starting with the trolley, I was using the Motocaddy winter wheels which do far less damage to the course, but also allow the trolley to travel much better on wet ground (it is worth noting that we currently do not insist on these winter wheels, a lot of courses are starting to so it is advisable to check before playing).
Other items to help were:
Brolley holder on the trolley handle with a 64" dual canopy brolley - bigger, lighter and no Mary Poppins impersonations!!
Rain gloves - these are an absolute must for every golfer. We use and stock the FootJoy range and everyone should have some ready in their bag. They are unbelievable but it needs to be wet. An ideal stocking filler if nothing else, and we are happy to give a demonstration in the Pro shop.
Lightweight waterproof suit - how good is yours?
Lightweight waterproof shoes WITH WINTER STUDS - have you had yours changed yet? If not you may be producing some moves more commonly seen on Strictly Come Dancing! Call in and have new studs fitted FREE & while you wait.
Unfortunately with all this gear I had no excuses, but with Mike as always on top form we found ourselves 4up after 12 when our opponents conceded! Many thanks again guys for your super company and a great game.

125th Anniversary Merchandise
As mentioned in last week's newsletter, our 125th Anniversary merchandise has started to arrive and continues to be well received. Having only been unpacked minutes earlier, one of the sweaters was straight out the door beautifully modelled by Chris Metcalfe. As you would expect, Chris had no reservations about posing for a photograph. Thank you Chris.
As I am typing this. my Christmas Elves are busy giving the Pro Shop its Christmas makeover. Our signage around the shop has the message "Everything you want for Christmas" and that really does cover everything from stocking fillers to "golf bag fillers" i.e. new clubs!!

Any new club launch always creates a stir, and the TaylorMade RSi irons have certainly done that. One of first FREE fittings was done with Lee Harding. As the photo shows we masked the face up on Lee's 7 iron and did the same on the fitted TaylorMade to do a comparison.
As you can see the results are amazing! An average ball speed increase of 8 yards, and an average carry increase of 18 yards! Not only that but a tighter dispersion also.

Hole in One
This seems to be a regular feature at the moment which is fantastic! In the last few days Dave Hough had a Hole-in-One on the 17th (his 4th!!).
