Studio news

"WOW"

We are delighted to say the Swing Studio is up and running and the initial feedback from the taster sessions has been fantastic.

I have never heard the word ‘wow’ used so often! Using the amazing Trackman technology we are proud to say that our Studio is the ultimate place to have lessons, fittings, play or practice. The taster sessions we are currently offering have proved popular this week. During these sessions, we have been showing members the many uses of the Studio. Those that have never used a Studio before have been amazed at the way it works and what has also been great to hear is that some who used a studio before have said that this was the best they have seen or used.

With the technology being so accurate (it is trusted and used by the best players, coaches and manufactures in the world) and also the quality of the graphics and virtual reality, the Studio is a fantastic environment to be whether you are playing, practising or having a lesson or fitting. No freezing weather, not wearing layers of clothing, no wind, premium golf balls. On the other hand, the technology is so good if you want to simulate playing in a 40mph wind we can arrange that too!

Over the next few weeks is the perfect time to work on your game and the Studio allows us and you to work together to make sure the 2020 season will be your most enjoyable yet. As well as lessons, fittings, play and practice the Studio is also available to carry out yardage sessions, tests to discover your strengths and weaknesses throughout your game and tailor practice sessions to help.

In addition to this, all users will have a Trackman account where lesson reports and videos will be sent along with test reports. This really is a very exciting time for you and your game. Pro Shop Winter AM-AM

Many thanks to everyone who took part in our inaugural Pro Shop winter Am-Am on Saturday it was fantastic to have 133 men and ladies take part. Before everyone teed off they were given a go in the nearest the pin challenge which was great fun!

Our next scheduled competition is Saturday 30th so be sure to get your name down as we will be having another exciting challenge in the studio along with more great prizes.

You don’t get to a single-figure handicap without having a strong iron game, but the journey shouldn't end there. For us, there are two key factors that, when combined properly, will help take your iron play to the next level.

1) Get custom-fitted

If you're serious about shooting in the 70s each and every round, then getting custom-fitted for your next set of irons is key.

TaylorMade’s P790 model feel fantastic off the face and provide precise distances and control, but that's no good if you're using the wrong shafts or you need 2-degrees flat but yours are standard.

2) Know your yardages

The second stat above is remarkable and if you're one of the 21%, you need to come and see us for a gapping session. There we can give you the distances you hit each of your clubs as well as spot any issues you have between clubs.

Asking for forgiveness

Improving your iron play is key if you want to lower your handicap this winter, but you need to give yourself the best chance of doing so at the same time. That's why these stats made us sit up and pay attention...

We should all be looking to make this game as easy as possible for ourselves, and that’s why we recommend joining the 55% of golfers who don't use a 3 or 4-iron by swapping yours out for a more forgiving and easy-to-use hybrid.

One model that we really like is TaylorMade's M6, which comes in several different loft options (19 through to 31 degrees) so we can fill the gaps between your longest iron and shortest wood with ease.

The other stat that jumped out at us was that 21% of golfers admitted to not knowing how far they hit the ball...! Just let that sink in for a moment - how can anyone expect to improve or even play to their ability if they're guessing over every shot?

The cold facts

Colder temperatures have a consequence on every aspect of our game, from the clothes we wear to how far the ball travels through the air. We all certainly dress to combat the chill on a winter’s day, but how many of you are switching your golf ball for one that offers you more distance when you need it the most?
