The fantastic momentum here at York Golf Club is set to continue after a very positive AGM was held on Wednesday evening. With a packed clubhouse there was resounding support for both the Course and Clubhouse development proposals which will make the years ahead very exciting.
Congratulations to our new Captain's Ralph Magee and Hilary Bogue who I am sure will have a great year, and a big well done must also be said to Mike Howell and Marion Bray who have given us a great year and must now be ready for a well-earned rest!!

Spring Workshop
On Wednesday we hosted my buying groups Spring Meeting for the Yorkshire/Northern region. This was a great honour for me as Foremost were very keen to stage the event here as they regard our Pro Shop as one of the best in the country.
In addition to the Pro Shop, our roles within the club and services we offer whilst working together with the club are also often used as examples of how Professionals and Clubs should work for everyone's interest!
Capt /Pro News
With Tony Lally needing to go into hospital for some treatment, his wife Sue steeped in to partner Paul Shepherd in our latest match last Friday. With Tony being ultra-competitive I'm sure he gave Sue a "pep" talk before the match, and when Sue calmly hit 3 super shots onto the first to set up a simple 5 nett 3, nothing could persuade me otherwise.
Indeed as is often the case our opponents played very well, although I didn't help ourselves when I gave Paul a tip about his driving early on which I subsequently regretted!
With both playing nicely below their handicaps it was great to see as their coach, but not as their opponent! Eventually their form proved too much as we shook hands on the 15th. Many thanks again Paul and Sue for a most enjoyable game.
There was a great deal of compliments on Wednesday with the eagerly anticipated opening of the 9th and 17th holes. I wonder how many of you hit the temporary green on the 17th for the first time when playing for the normal green!! Great team effort by everyone involved over the past few months with the work on the bunkers and paths.
On Sunday the Captains Junior Trophy was played in super conditions. The staging of this "major" is always a keen affair for our juniors with the added bonus of the winners name on one of the honours boards. Very well done to Charlie Baron winning with 35 points which narrowly squeezed Nick Audsley into 2nd place with his 34 points. Very well done guys!
