What a busy week!
Lots of golf, lots of range use and lots of rain!!!!!
After weeks of organising the Rose Bowl was unfortunately a wash out. After such a dry start to the year it was inevitable that the heavy rain during morning would just sit on top of parched ground. On the positive side, the rain was much needed but just came at the wrong time!
Just 24 hours later the course was absolutely wonderful and nearly 200 competitors enjoyed playing in the Wardrop cup.
With the Rose bowl not played, this meant that the new course record was up for grabs.
As this week's title eluded to, it was not one of our "young guns" that took the honour but the "experienced" Mark Metcalfe.
It was absolutely fantastic to see Mark shoot a 70 to be our new record holder on our "new" layout.
This was particularly wonderful not just because Mark has been a great member for many years and has great history with the club, but also for the fact Mark has been really working in his game and making full use of our practice facilities.
Very well done Mark!
As for the Wardrop cup itself, Jack Robinson scored an incredible nett 61 to storm to victory. Very well done Jack and happy new handicap!
This week we received the latest promotion from TaylorMade
To highlight your striking patterns on your irons, TaylorMade are inviting everyone to come and have a sticker put on the face of an iron and then hit 3/5 shots out on the range. We have a display where you can put your sticker on to compare to others. This is great fun to do and also very interesting! We will have an update on this in next week's newsletter but in the meantime please call in and have a go.
Lithium battery trade-in
Time is running out for you to take advantage of our hugely popular battery trade in. When you trade in your old cart battery regardless of its age, brand or condition, we will give you £25 OFF a brand new lithium battery or lithium battery trolley from Motocaddy (or PowaKaddy batteries).

FREE SRIXON Z-STAR balls

On the course this week we have been verti-cutting the greens. This process uses a different cutting head to cut vertically through the grass sward. By reducing the density of the sward, the ball can roll truer and smoother across the leaf blade.
A lot of work is carried out off the golf course and out of sight of the golfers by the Greenkeeper mechanic. Phil helps the club maintain and repair their growing fleet of machinery.
