Wow these weeks come round quick!
In last week's newsletter we were showing you some of the fantastic autumn clothing we have in store for both Men and Ladies and now look at the weather - it's been blooming tropical!!!
Rest assured I'm sure you will need more than shirt sleeves soon unfortunately. The fantastic weather these past few days has been a bonus though. Aside from making your golf even more enjoyable, it has helped with all the work going on around the course.
We have all enjoyed the condition of our course this year and in particular the superb greens. In order to maintain what have often been described as "best greens I've played on this year", maintenance work needs to be carried out and the guys have been busy tining and dressing the greens.
In addition to work on the greens we have also have contractors in to verti-drain the course which is essential in relieving the compaction and thatch allowing better growth and drainage.
With so much work going on we have also introduced a new initiative to help with filling divots. We are lucky to have had help from various members throughout the year with regard to looking after the fairways on certain holes and this idea is designed to help and work alongside this.
Please click here to view your pro in action talking you through the best practices to help us look after our course.
Not only are our greenstaff very busy with their maintenance week, they are also busy with phase 2 of the Course Development Plan. Work began on Monday on the 18th and will then move on to complete this phase by working on holes 1, 2 & 3.
Many positive comments have been paid already about what has been done on the 18th in regards to both the fairway bunkers and the greenside work as well.
Members' Questionnaire
The recently distributed member's questionnaire has got off to a great start with responses which is great to hear. The feedback received is vital for our club and it is very much appreciated when members take the time to respond (the survey is available for 30 days).
There have been quite a few members ask what a "swing studio" is, as it is mentioned in the future projects section at the end.
Basically it is an indoor room designed to give you a complete golf experience in the comfort of being inside. Many of you will have seen the Sky Sports studio with the simulator screen to hit balls against and that is exactly what our proposal is all about.
There are many benefits to having this facility and many clubs around the country have chosen to do this including some local ones such as Moortown, Harrogate, Pannal, Garforth, Wike and Fulford.
With the benefit of being able to get feedback from clubs that have created their swing studio's it is quite clear how golfers really enjoy having one of these facilities at their club and also how the club itself have benefitted from it.
Benefits and uses include
- Advanced technology for lessons and club fitting
- Comfortable environment to play/practice/coach all year round
- Simulation play or practice
- Nearest the pin competitions on famous par 3's - Ideal for events such as invititaion day, corporate or visiting parties
- Available to hire for personal use by individuals or small groups e.g. play a 4 ball around TPC Sawgrass for example
