The season opener is nearly here. No , not the Masters ..........the York GC April Medal !! It's fantastic to see a jam packed start sheet including the additional times with the first competitors going off at 7am. Make sure you come down and watch some excellent golf and hopefully make the most of some lovely weather.
As much as you are all looking forward to the weeks ahead, so is your Pro Shop team. Whilst it is always an on going affair conducting club fits and doing lessons, both TJ and I are confident we will be writing about success stories in the ensuing weeks so be warned!!

In conjunction with Srixon, we have a great offer on their AD333 and Soft Feel balls for tomorrow's medal. These are their new 2014 models, and if you purchase a dozen tomorrow they are the special price of only £14.99!!
Our Head Greenkeeper Mick has kindly eased the tees back over the last few days, so hopefully it will not be too much of a shock on Saturday for you! Having said that, don't forget we can find you some extra yards if you book a club fit!!
The Yorkshire v The Rest match on Saturday was a great afternoon for all those that took part in the annual friendly/competitive match . Team captain for The Rest, Steve Wilkinson playing with Alan Walmsley used fantastic tactics in losing the opening match against The Captain and Roger Birdsall to make sure his team pulled their socks up and battled harder to claim victory!
As the Masters edges closer, we can't wait to see if Adam Scott can hang on to his Green Jacket. Scott is an interesting case. His swing has always looked majestic; yet five years ago, he'd dropped out of the world's top 50 and his career was stalling. It prompted Scott to switch long-term coach, Butch Harmon, for unknown Aussie Brad Malone. Malone quickly spotted a postural kink that caused Scott to separate his arms from his body, costing his action connection and coordination. A simple set-up change turned Scott's career around.
The episode shows two things: first, that a successful action is built on solid basics, whether it's yours or mine or Adam Scott's; and second, that a fresh pair of eyes can make a real difference to a player's form.
As the season starts, I urge anyone who has not had a lesson for a while to drop into the shop and talk to us. We can't promise you a Masters triumph… but we will improve your game. Click here to review our instruction pages and maybe book a lesson too.
