Before you scoff at me saying this, just bear in mind that it's only 7 weeks away! You may still be thinking it's a long way away but now is the time to be thinking about Christmas gifts for your loved ones (or yourself).

Don't lose your grip!
It is also that time of the year to bring your "winter" shoes out. Throughout the year we have often talked about how popular the spikeless shoes are within our club and the market itself. Most models are waterproof too, but please don't be tempted to keep wearing them through the winter period. We strongly advise wearing shoes with spikes. We have a great selection of shoes available, but if you have shoes that are suitable from last year please at least check your spikes before you next play.
If you need new studs we will fit while-u-wait whenever possible.
If you are in need of a new pair of shoes, come and pay us a visit, or click here to find out more about our footwear range.
The annual England v Scotland match was played on Saturday and it is fair to say that the England team had the upper hand before anyone teed off when Alan Walnsley & Steve Hood arrived. Wow!
Maybe it was the cold weather but I didn't see any kilts on the day…
Despite this "upper hand" the match result was a draw and I'm afraid I didn't catch Steve afterwards to get a photo of what his white trousers looked like after the game!!!!
This week has seen great progress on the Course Development work going on, with near completion on the first hole.
There has been great help for our Greenstaff with extra help from TJ, Andy and Tony Thompson.
The Ladies played a "
Yellow Peril" competition on Tuesday which is always great fun (and pressure).
Many congratulations to
Judith Laken, Carol Ormiston & Vanessa Hart who cruised to victory by 5 points with their score of 68 points.
The
Midweek Turkey Stableford was held the next day and with the 3rd hole closed for work the event was held over 17 holes. Very well done to
Peter Rylance winning with his great score of 38 points. As well as congratulations to Peter on winning, a special mention is well deserved for
Paul Yates who played his first competition for nearly 2 years due to illness.
Well done Paul!
Hopefully if the weather is kind enough we will be holding our first golf in the dark event with over 70 players taking part. This is sure to be great fun and I wish to put it on record that the 5 holes selected had nothing to do with me!
I'm sure there will be a few glowing balls in the pond on the 7th!!
There will be a full report in next week's newsletter and I hope to get lots of pictures as we play.
As it will be very dark it will obviously be very difficult to see and repair pitch marks so if members playing Saturday morning can make an extra special effort to repair pitchmarks it would be greatly appreciated.
